Week One Results

I almost forgot to post my results from week one!

I lost 7.2lbs and 2 1/2 inches around my waist!!!!

I'm sure excited and think this is a great start - by next week I'd like to lose another 5lbs, so I'm going to work at that this week for sure.  I'll post pictures on week 4

Walk This Way

I forced myself to go on a walk tonight, and I do mean forced.  After work I went over to my mom and dad's house and made dinner for my dad's birthday, not that healthy of a meal (although I did cut down on my portions and did not have seconds, so that's a little win) and after I got home I just felt gross, but really tired and unmotivated.  I already had the dogs on the leash from leaving my parents so I just grabbed my coat out of the car and took off before I could decide otherwise.  I'm super glad I did, although I'm finding some sad things out about my walking abilities.  I have no stamina, right now I am walking about 20 mins at a time for only about 1/2 a mile - I really want to increase this.  I've mapped out a few routes around my house that are 1/2 mile and mile long, as well as routes with hills, etc.  For now, I'm sticking with a flat, easy, 1/2 mile loop, and once I can walk that without feeling completely out of breath and sore I'll beef it up a bit.  Poor Delilah needs some conditioning too, I have to drag her the last 1/4 of the loop.

So the plan for the rest of this week is another walk around the loop tomorrow morning, another loop on Saturday and then trying out Riverwalk (1mile) on Sunday.

I really need to make sure I'm stretching out before these walks because my legs are super sore.

Plexus Slim - The Pink Drink

Since I'm re-starting my weight loss journey, I figure I better mention what I'm using.  My Aunt began posting and talking about this new weight loss supplement called "Plexus Slim" - I didn't buy into the whole thing until I started seeing results on my dad.  After just two weeks on Plexus I could visually see the changes in him but the coolest part has been the effect on his blood sugar levels, which are coming in at NORMAL - not diabetic normal, like person without diabetes normal - and this was without any change in diet or exercise.  I decided I would give it a try.

I started my Plexus drink on Tuesday, March 12th.  I am taking the "pink drink" which is a powder you mix with water and drink twice a day and the Accelerator which is a natural stimulant you take in the morning.  So far, so good - I am not really experiencing any bad side affects.  I notice that my mood is improving and so is my energy level - a big thing for me is that I haven't had (or wanted) ANY coffee (I loved my morning Americano) and I think collectively I've drank about 12oz of soda (I am a soda freak, anyone who knows me will tell you that).  I'm excited about these changes and hope I continue to have results.

Below I will post my Day 1 vs Day 4 results from Plexus - I am already down 5lbs and a few inches.  On Tuesday I will do my weekly weigh in and will share those results with you.  I'll update my photos and measurements on a monthly basis.

If you'd like info on Plexus Slim I will provide you with my Aunt Fawn's website.  I'll try to answer questions to the best of my knowledge and with my own experiences :-)

Dust Yourself Off, Get Back Up Again

After a 3 month hiatus of binging on food and great wine, I'm back to where I started, but highly motivated to get back into a routine.  Like any good addict, I am fresh out of self-rehab and ready for a new leash on life....so here we are again.

What's the plan for success this time?  I'm still working on that, but what I've decided is that small goal setting and small changes are what work for me - often I try to hard to go big or go home and end up burning out after a few weeks (that's what happened before).

Here are some short term goals that I want to accomplish by June 1st:

1.) Be able to walk twice around Riverwalk Park (2 miles) in an hour

2.) Drop 2 dress sizes

3.)  Drink my 64 oz of water each day

These are all attainable goals that I think I can do, but can't at this time.  I'm going to make small goals each month to work towards these bigger goals, and each week I'll set myself up with tasks to help those goals, for example:

By April 1st my goal is to:
1.) Walk the Riverwalk Park loop once, two times per week.

2.)  Plan weekly menus

3.)  Pack large water bottles for work each day

This week I will focus on walking Riverwalk at least once, planning my weekly menu and purchasing large water bottles that I can take to work.

K - so there's the plan, let's see how I do.  I'll try to keep you kids posted.

Gettin' Clean

Sorry I haven't updated this much - I shall try my best to be a little more diligent.  Tomorrow I'll get pics and measurements and all of that important stuff to post on here.  FOR NOW:

I am cleansing...yes...as we speak I am ridding my body of toxins, goblins and impure thoughts.  Ok, maybe not the last two, but I am getting rid of all the gobbily-goop that is held up inside me.

I started my 10 day herbal cleanse today.  After chatting with a few people and doing a little google search I landed on the Advocare 10 Day Herbal Cleanse.  What I liked about this cleanse is that you get to eat!  Actually you are supposed to eat often, which is hard to get used to.  Obviously I do my fair share of eating but it's usually two large meals and a snack.  How did I get my luscious figure by only eating three times a day?  I ate crap when I did eat, sweet, delicious, completely bad for you crap - preferably fried.  SO now I'm training myself to eat often but to make better choices about what I eat.

Restrictions - there are a few.  I'm supposed to steer clear of dairy products, sugars, bleached flour, wheat and alcohol.  I'm encouraged to eat a lot of fruit, veggies and whole grains.

Here's how I'm making it work for me so far:
*Magic Lunch Box - I have packed my tinkerbell lunch box full of single serving size snacks - which makes it a lot easier to follow when I'm at work.

*Snack Ideas - I've been trying to come up with at least 15 different snack combos so that I can keep some variety during this cleanse.  I'm scared that if I get bored I'll fall off the wagon very easy.

*Water!  WATER!!!! - I'm drinking a TON of water - this really helps with the tummy rumbling.  When I start feeling hungry I just guzzle down water and it totally helps.

So it's just day 1, which is usually an easy day for me because I'm all gun-ho about it - so we'll check back in on this on day 5 when I'm really starting to crave the no-no foods.

I'm re-reading this and deciding that I kind of write like I talk - so sorry to those that were looking for a well-written piece on healthy living.  You should be glad I haven't put any fart jokes in yet.

Read About What You're Gonna Read About

Well alright, where to start?

First, let me give you a brief description of *hopefully* what this blog will kind of be.  I'm using this outlet to journal my new weight loss endeavor.  I'll blog about the ups and downs of losing weight and changing my lifestyle.  Why now?  Well, I am ready to be a mommy, and in order to make that happen I'll be using IUI, which is a form of artificial insemination - yup, this is gonna be one of those "TMI" blogs (to a point, promise not to comment on the color of my poop or the road rash I get after a work out) ANYWHO - in order to make IUI more effective (get me preggers) I want to do everything in my power to make sure that I am healthy.

GOALS:

GET HEALTHY:

Currently I am what they consider "Super Obese", but there is nothing super about it.  I am 29 and currently take medications for high blood pressure, underactive thyroid, extreme anemia, polycystic ovarian syndrome, depression, sciatic/back pain, water retention and sleep problems.  Not all of these are necessarily caused by my weight but most of them are aggrevated by the weight.  I'm also a very high risk for diabetes (both parents are diabetic as well as grandmas, aunts, cousins, uncles, etc.).  I'm hoping that by losing the weight I can get some of these conditions to lessen in intensity or even disappear altogether!  I would love to reduce the amount of medication that I have to take and find more natural ways to deal with all my issues.  I think the real "kick in the ass" came about a week ago when my doctor and I had a very serious conversation about my current health issue.  For almost 2 months now I've been dealing with a very bad "lady time" issue which has resulted in extreme anemia (had to get a blood transfusion), exhaustion, irritability and hormone imbalance.  We've tried SEVERAL hormone therapies and even a small surgical procedure, but nothing has worked.  My doctor tells me that if this new medication does work by a 3 month deadline that I'm going to have to have a hysterectomy - making me sterile at age 29.  It was devastating news, but the glimmer of hope that I took away from it was that if I could lose just 10-15% of my body weight that it might just put me back to working order and save the old uterus.  Thus - the sudden obsession with babies and weight loss.

QUALITY OF LIFE:

I miss out on a lot from being overweight.  I have had to have back surgery at age 26 and my back is still in pretty bad shape - some of it is genetic, but the extra weight does not help.  I refrain from doing things that require a lot of physical endurance such as hiking, biking, climbing, etc.  I have a hard time even grocery shopping or going to a concert due to the length of time standing and/or walking.  I really want to improve on these things so that I can get out and be more active.

BABY TIME:

The biggest motivator for me is having a baby.  I've wanted to be a mommy for as long as I can remember and until this recent health issue I never thought that it could be a done deal so early on.  Now I am more motivated than ever to become a mommy, so my goal is to lose 100lbs in order to get my body in a healthier condition to conceive and carry.  I will be using artificial insemination which has it's own success rates and losing weight will only help my odds.

So, that's it in a nutshell - hopefully I'll be able to include photos, recipes, rants, raves and whatever else along this journey.  I also hope to blog frequently, but we'll see about that.
